Agnipath scheme review: Armed forces reportedly propose big jump in Agniveer retention
The Indian Armed Forces are reportedly reviewing the Agnipath recruitment scheme and have proposed increasing the permanent retention of Agniveers after their four-year tenure. The Indian Navy has suggested retaining up to 70–75% of recruits, while the Indian Army and Indian Air Force have proposed raising retention to 50%.
Additional welfare measures are also under consideration. However, the Ministry of Defence has not officially approved any changes, and the existing 25% retention policy remains in effect.
