Trinamool councillor Shankar Das was severely beaten and stripped by a mob at his Kolkata home, allegedly over land-grabbing accusations. The incident followed the discovery of relief materials at a business owned by the municipality chairman.

Two associates of the chairman were also attacked. Police have arrested two individuals and are investigating the pre-planned conspiracy claims.
