Suspected arson attack targets Jewish apartment building in London's Golders Green

According to the Jewish neighborhood watch group Shomrim, a suspect allegedly ignited a fire in the stairwell of a building on Bridge Lane, where the majority of residents are Jewish and many are young families. Residents were alerted by a fire alarm and managed to extinguish the flames before emergency services arrived. No injuries were reported in the incident.
Witnesses reported seeing a suspect deliberately start the fire and flee after being confronted by residents. A photo posted on social media by Shomrim showed a baby stroller in the stairwell that had been scorched by the flames. Shomrim said it recovered evidence believed to belong to the suspect and was working with Metropolitan Police to investigate. No immediate arrests were made.
The incident represents the latest in a series of attacks targeting the Jewish community in London. Golders Green is home to one of the United Kingdom's largest Jewish communities and has experienced multiple security incidents in recent months, including an arson attack on four Hatzolah ambulances in March and the stabbing of two British Jews outside a synagogue in April. The rise in antisemitic incidents has prompted increased security concerns, with a YouGov survey showing that 63 percent of Britons view antisemitism as a major or significant problem in British society.
The UK's terrorism threat level was raised in April to the second-highest level of "severe" amid the attacks on the Jewish community, with security officials citing both Islamist and extreme right-wing terrorist threats as contributing factors to the heightened alert status.
