Hardik Pandya to reach BCCI CoE on June 2 ahead of Afghanistan ODI's
Hardik Pandya is scheduled to reach the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru on June 2 and is expected to spend over a week at the facility before joining the India ODI squad for the Afghanistan series on June 11. The 32-year-old all-rounder was included in the ODI squad announced on May 19, but his participation remains subject to fitness clearance.
Pandya last featured in ODI cricket during the Champions Trophy final against New Zealand in March 2025. The BCCI medical team has instructed both Pandya and Rohit Sharma to report to the CoE, though there is currently no clarity regarding Sharma's status. During his week-long stay at the facility, Pandya is expected to undergo fitness drills and match simulations to prepare for the upcoming series.
Meanwhile, India's Test squad will begin training in Mullanpur ahead of the one-off Test against Afghanistan scheduled to commence on June 6. The Indian team will conduct afternoon training sessions from 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM, while Afghanistan will hold morning sessions from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM. The BCCI has also arranged several net bowlers including Gurjapneet Singh, Auqib Nabi, Prince Yadav, Saransh Jain, Zeeshan Ansari, and Shivang Kumar to assist in the team's preparation. The first ODI has been rescheduled and will now be played on June 13, 2026.
