A family that had assembled at a Malviya Nagar hotel to be with their gravely ill patriarch, 75-year-old Radheshyam undergoing treatment for a lung infection at Max Hospital in Saket, faced devastating tragedy when a fire broke out. Eight family members staying at the hotel died in the incident. Relatives gathered at the hospital's waiting area recalled that doctors had recently informed the family that Radheshyam had limited time remaining, prompting them to book rooms near the hospital to maximize their time together.

The victims included Radheshyam's wife Premlata (70), son Vivek (47), daughter-in-law Tarjani (42), and granddaughters Varya and Jivisha, ages 16 and 20 respectively. Vivek was a chartered accountant working as CFO of a private insurtech company, while Tarjani was employed with an event management firm. The younger granddaughter had recently scored 97 percent in her Class X examinations, and the elder was pursuing a BTech degree. Also among the deceased were Premlata's sister Kamla (52) and brother Ashok (56), who had traveled from Rajasthan and extended their stay at the family's request. A brother-in-law remains missing.

According to family members, Vivek managed to make a frantic call after the fire began. A cousin who received the call rushed to the scene with his wife and attempted to pull Vivek from the building and administer CPR, but he had inhaled too much smoke. Tarjani was found charred beyond recognition in her room and was identified through her jewelry. The family alleged delays in emergency response, claiming Vivek's call came around 8:45 a.m. while fire tenders arrived approximately 45 minutes later, though a senior fire official denied this assertion. The family had traveled from Rajasthan, Bengaluru, and Gurgaon to be with the patriarch, and the elderly man has not yet been informed of the tragedy.
